Google Maps Places
Local business listings from Google Maps — name, website, phone, address, category and rating.
656 rows in the dataset
Download the dataset
Get every row this scraper has collected as one CSV or JSONL file. If the data is older than maxAgeHours, the scraper is re-run with its configured settings first. The key needs the datasets:export scope.
DOWNLOAD_ID=$(curl -s -X POST "https://api.pandorlabs.com/v1/datasets/google-maps-places/downloads" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $PANDORLABS_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"maxAgeHours":24,"format":"csv"}' | jq -r '.id')while true; do STATUS=$(curl -s "https://api.pandorlabs.com/v1/downloads/$DOWNLOAD_ID" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $PANDORLABS_KEY" | jq -r '.status') [ "$STATUS" != "refreshing" ] && break sleep 5donecurl -s "https://api.pandorlabs.com/v1/downloads/$DOWNLOAD_ID/file" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $PANDORLABS_KEY" \ -o dataset.csvAt its current 656 rows, this download costs 7 credits when the data is fresh enough, or 14 credits when it has to be refreshed first.
The rate is 1 credit per 100 rows cached and 2 credits live, charged on the rows in the dataset when the download becomes ready. A failed refresh is not charged. The file stays downloadable for 24 hours. See pricing.
Start a run
To choose the targets yourself, send the parameters below as input. The call returns 202 with the run; the key needs the scrapers:run scope and the account a positive credit balance.
curl -X POST "https://api.pandorlabs.com/v1/scrapers/google-maps-places/runs" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $PANDORLABS_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "input": { "query": "coffee shop", "locations": [ "new york", "los angeles", "chicago", "houston", "phoenix", "philadelphia", "san antonio", "san diego", "dallas", "austin", "miami", "seattle", "san francisco" ], "requireWebsite": false, "requirePhone": false } }'A run is billed at the live rate once it finishes: 2 credits per 100 rows it collected. A run that collects nothing costs nothing.
Parameters
Every parameter is optional. Anything you leave out uses the default shown here; an unknown name or an invalid value is rejected with a 400 that lists each problem.
Targeting
querystring
Search query
The trade or business type to look for. Combined with each location.
- Default
coffee shop- Example
plumber
locationsstring[]
Locations
Metro names from the built-in table (new york, los angeles, chicago, houston, phoenix, philadelphia, san antonio, san diego, dallas, austin, miami, seattle, san francisco) or explicit `lat, long` pairs. Any coordinate pair works, so a larger target set is a matter of pasting one in rather than editing the scraper.
- Default
["new york","los angeles","chicago","houston","phoenix","philadelphia","san antonio","san diego","dallas","austin","miami","seattle","san francisco"]- Example
austin, dallas, 30.2672,-97.7431
requireWebsiteboolean
Require a website
Drops listings with no website. Leave off to keep businesses whose absent site is the reason to call them.
- Default
false
requirePhoneboolean
Require a phone number
Drops listings with no published phone. Google omits the phone on a large minority of results.
- Default
false
maxPlacesnumber
Max places per run
Rows persist and re-runs upsert, so a ceiling here bounds one run, not the dataset.
- Default
2000- Range
- 1 to 100000
Advanced
pathenum
Collection path
Auto prefers the supported API. Choosing `api` with no key configured fails the run rather than silently falling back.
- Default
auto- Allowed values
autoapipb
apiVariantenum
Places API variant
Legacy Text Search was closed to new Google Cloud customers in March 2025 and only works on accounts that already used it.
- Default
new- Allowed values
newlegacy
apiKeystring
API key override
Defaults to GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY, then GOOGLE_PLACES_API_KEY. Set here only to run against a different key.
- Default
- none
gridSizenumber
Grid size (map endpoint)
Side of the square of search points built around each location. Costs gridSize² requests per location, so 5 is 25 and 15 is 225.
- Default
5- Range
- 1 to 20
zoomnumber
Map altitude (map endpoint)
The endpoint’s `1d` parameter, in metres. Lower covers less ground per request but hits the 20-result cap less often.
- Default
13499.795714815926- Range
- 100 to 10000000
resultsPerRequestnumber
Results per request (map endpoint)
Google truncates above 20 without saying so.
- Default
20- Range
- 1 to 20
requestDelayMsnumber
Delay between requests (ms)
- Default
800- Range
- 0 to 30000

The run is asynchronous. Poll it until it reaches a terminal status and its billing is paid, then page through its rows. Until then the rows endpoint answers 409 (still queued or running) or 402 (payment required).
